ALTERNATIVES

On behalf of  Alternatives and Alternatives International I extend my heartfelt condolences to all his family, friends and comrades. His passing away is a great loss to us and to the cause of secularism. He will be fondly remembered as a comrade and a friend.

It was in the early 1990s that our organization, South Asia Research and Resource Centre (CERAS) based in Montreal decided to join forces with other organizations in North America to meet the challenge of the rising Hindutva forces amongst the Indian Diaspora. One of the obvious allies in this battle was SANSAD under the leadership of Hari Sharma.  Along with SANSAD we got together organizations and individuals from Toronto, New York and Boston and formed the International South Asia Forum. Hari was a founding member. I worked as the Coordinator of this Forum. It is during these formative years of INSAF that I came to know Hari personally.

INSAF organized two International conferences, the first one in Montreal followed by one in Vancouver. Hari was in the forefront of both. His dedication to the cause and his untiring organizational capacity was

extremely inspiring to me.

On behalf of Alternatives International I extend my heartfelt condolences to all his family, friends and comrades. His passing away is a great loss to us and to the cause of secularism. He will be fondly remembered as a comrade and a friend.
