DOLORES CHEW TO BE HONORED: A TEXT OF AN EMAIL
Dear Dolores:
I am pleased to advise you that the Dr. Hari Sharma Foundation has decided to honour you in recognition of your outstanding contributions to the community through your work as a public educator and a community activist.
Your research, writing and activism for the last 50 years in the Indian Peoples’ Association in North America (IPANA), CERAS (Centre sur l’asie du sud), South Asian Diasporic Active Collective (SADAC) and South Asian Women’s Community Centre (SAWCC) in Montreal have made an invaluable contribution to public education for the community.
Your dedication to advancing knowledge and enriching public discourse has had a lasting and meaningful impact. Through your activism, you have not only illuminated important issues but have also inspired dialogue, understanding and civic engagement within and beyond our community.
In recognition of these achievements, Dr. Hari Sharma Foundation would be honoured to formally recognize you at our upcoming Community Banquet to be held on April 4, 2026 in Surrey, British Columbia. This event will bring together community members, leaders and stakeholders to celebrate individuals whose work has strengthened and uplifted the community.
We would be delighted if you would accept this honour and join us for the event.
In addition to the honour, we would like you to deliver the annual Dr. Hari Sharma Memorial Lecture at the April 4th event. Please feel free to discuss the details with myself or Zahid Makhdoom, President.
The Foundation will cover your travel and accommodation expenses in case you decide to accept our invitation.
Thank you for activism and commitment to community service. We look forward to celebrating your remarkable contributions.
Harinder Mahil, Secretary
Dr. Hari Sharma Foundation
