NEPAL MAOISTS TO SHARE POWER
An understanding has been reached between the four major political parties to share political power with Communist Party of Nepal-Maoists (CPN-Maoists) and other constituents of the 7-party alliance which led the anti-monarchy agitation. CPN (Maoist) would get the post of the Deputy Prime Minister and other important ministries. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be from the CPN (United Marxist-Leninist) or UML and Nepali Congress-Democratic (NC-D), respectively. This arrangement was reached at a meeting of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, CPN (Maoist) leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and NC-D President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
NEPAL MAOISTS WARN AGAINST FOREIGN INTERFERENCE
Maoist leader Dr Bhattarai warned foreign embassies against making “unwarranted statements” on Nepal’s internal matters and rebuffed US Ambassador James F Moriarty for suggesting that the interim government should be formed only after Maoists’ arms were locked up in containers.
NEPAL MAOISTS TO DISSOLVE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.
Prachanda, Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) is expected to officially announce the dissolution of all the local governments and People’s Courts under their control.
