New Delhi, Nov.24. 2012, In a two day meeting cum workshop in GPF organized by the National Campaign Committee where the constituents of NCC and some other democratic organizations resolved to launch All India Peoples Front, retaining NCC.


The meeting was presided by SP Shukla, prominent political thinker and ex.-Member Planning Commission . A committee was formed to finalize manifesto,

programme and policies of the new political front. It comprises of SP Shukla, Seema Mustafa, KB Saxena, SR Darapuri, Jaya Mehta, Anand Swaroop Varma, Sulabha Brahme, Akhilendra Pratap Singh and Lal Bahadur Singh.


During the workshop, serious discussion took place and resolutions were adopted on various issues of mass political importance. SP Shukla speaking on the economic policies said that those who were raising questions on the issue of selling gold and brought the neo-liberal policies even putting national sovereignty at stake have actually further aggravated the crisis. Speaking on the question of social justice, PS Krishnan, Ex-Secretary, Government of India, strongly advocated for division of OBC quota on the basis of identification and classification of the OBC category  to ensure proper representation of Most Backward and extremely backward classes. KB Saxena, ex-Secretary Government of India, speaking on the issue of land acquisition said that the proposed land acquisition bill is designed to benefit only the corporate houses. We must unite all struggling forces against the proposed bill. On gender issue, economist Jaya Mehta said that the security of women is in danger today. In the service sector, they are facing double exploitation. They are getting lesser wages and also made victim of physical exploitation. Resolution was adopted on  the accentuating crisis of unemployment and the need for incorporating right to work as fundamental right in Indian constitution.


Anand Swaroop Verma speaking on the assault on democratic rights and freedoms said that ruling classes raised a bogey of Maoism in order to suppress the rising peoples movements against their anti-people policies. Speaking on the assault on democratic rights of minority, Seema Mustafa said that arrest and torture of innocent Muslim youth is taking place in various parts in the name of terrorism. She demanded constitution of fast track courts to decide such cases and prosecution of police officials responsible for falsely fabricating cases against the innocents.


On this occasion a talk was organized on ‘The current political situation and way ahead’. Expressing his views, Prakash Karat, General Secretary CPI(M) said that all ruling formations, including the regional ones have reached a consensus so far as neo-liberal reforms are concerned and hence there is no possibility of a third front today. Today all left, democratic forces should work together to strengthen left democratic unity and alternative.


In his paper India needs a radical democratic political platform,  Akhilendra Pratap Singh, National convener NCC said that without joining hands with democratic and fighting forces, effort by Arvind Kejriwal to form a party does not seem to be any serious attempt against corporate politics. He said that such experiments have been made in the past also. But ultimately it served the purpose of ruling parties itself.


Major organizations which joined hands are Jan Sangram Parishad of Karnatak,Jan Sangharsh Morcha , Bihar parivartan Morcha and Krantikari Samta Party of Bihar,  CPI(ML) Mass Liberation of Tamilnadu, Peoples Front of Delhi, Kisan Union of Haryana. Dalit Mukti Morcha , Majdoor Kisan Sanghatan of Rajasthan. During the workshop, a seminar was organized with the help of Joshi-Adhikari Institute on the topic, ‘On Venezuela Elections.’ It was addressed by Prof. Aijaz Ahmad, CPI leader Amarjeet Kaur and representatives of Cuba and Venezuela embassy.  Dinkar Kapoor Spokesperson
