TEN YEARS OF GUJARAT CARNAGE, CITIZENS COURTED ARREST IN AHMEDABAD
DEMANDING AMAN- EKHLASH-INSAAF
March 9, 2012: Today Movement for Secular Democracy (M.S.D.) and Peoples’ Union for Civil Liberties organized a very spirited demonstration at Paldi Cross Road for Peace, Harmony and Justice in the state as a part of remembering of 10 years of Gujarat Carnage-2002 and the leading citizens of Gujarat courted arrest defying the police.
You all know that Citizens Convention was held under the presidentship of well known leading citizens of Gujarat Shri Prakashbhai Shah on 26th February focusing on AMAN- EKHLASH – INSAAF in Mehandi Nawaj Jung Hall. This programme was the part of Insaf ke Dagar Par.
The Convention deeply felt that 10 years of carnage have passed with subversion of Democracy and in the absence of Rule of Law, Peace, Harmony and Justice. Among the speakers were Sh. Chunibhai Vaidya, Sh. Girishbhai Patel, Ms.. Ilaben Pathak, Sh. Sureshbhai Mehta, Sh. Sanjeev Bhatt, Sh. R.B. Sreekumar, Sh. Saroop Dhruv, Sh. Yashwant Mehta, Ms.. Sarahben Baldiwala, Sh. Dwarikanath Rath, Sh. Uttambhai Parmar, Sh. Tanveer Jafri, Sh. Gautambhai Thaker,Ms. Meenakshi Joshi etc. Three resolutions were passed unanimously.
After the convention we were to stage demonstration at Paldi Char Rasta. As you all know the police cancelled our permission at last moment to hold the demomnstration and the whole Mehandi Nawab Jung Hall of Himavan was fortified by a heavy contigent of police.
Of course the demonstration was held with placards inside the hall and it was declared by the president of the meeting Shri Prakashbhai Shah to stage demonstration at Paldi Char Rasta on 9th March and endorsed by all. It was declared that the police will only be informed about our demonstration and no permission will be taken for the demonstration So as a part of the programme defying the police the demonstrtion was held as sheduled Sh. Prakashbhai N. Shah, Sh. Ilaben Pathak, Sh. Prof. Rohitbhai Shukla, Shri Dilip Chandulal,Sh. Dwarikanath Rath, Sh. Rajnibhai Dave, Sh. Saroopben Dhruv, Sh. Sarahben Baldiwala, Sh. Meenakshiben Joshi, Sh. Mahadev Vidrohi, Sh. Jayesh Patel, Sh. Dushyantbhai Trivedi, Sh. B.C. Shah, Sh. Comrade Gandhi, Shri Ikram Mirza, Zahir Ahmeda, Hozefa, Romil, Shakeel, Nattubhai, IswarDalsania, Rita Gohil, VidyaRathod and many youths belonging to many organisations participating in Insaf ki Gagar Par courted arrest.
The Insaf Ki DagarPar Programme started on 26th February with the Citizens Convention with the series of programmes ended with arrests while demanding for AMAN- EKHLASH-INSAAF, Peace, Harmony and Justice.
