SLAIN INDIAN POLICE SERVICE OFFICER HONORED

Aligarh Alumni Association (DC, USA) honors AMU alumnus, slain IPS officer, Narendra Kumar Singh by establishing a scholarship in his name.

 

The Aligarh Alumni Association of Washington, DC (Association) announces the establishment of a scholarship in the name of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) alumnus Narendra Kumar Singh, IPS.

 

At the annual General Body meeting of the Association, held on March 11, 2012, the General Body approved the motion to establish a scholarship in the name of the slain IPS officer who was killed in the line of duty by the mining Mafia in Madhya Pradesh, India.

 

Narendra Kumar Singh, 2009 batch IPS officer, was an alumnus from AMU having completed his Masters in Economics in 2002 from AMU.

 

Since 1992, the Association has been running a program that provides scholarship to needy and meritorious students at AMU and financial support to poor students in Elementary and High School. In 2011, the Association awarded 218 scholarships to students at AMU and financial support to 900 students in schools. Along with AMU, the Association supports 18 institutions in 15 cities.
