CPI(ML) MOURNS THE PASSING OF M F HUSAIN

(Liberation News Service June 10, 2011)

MF Husain’s death at the age of 96 has robbed the world and India of a towering artist. All his life, he never stopped painting, and he acquired international renown as a modern painter with a distinctive style.

For Indians, it is a matter of great sorrow and shame that this great artist spent the last years of his life in enforced exile. Husain’s death in exile ordained by organized communal terror of the Sangh brigade is reminiscent of freedom fighter Bahadur Shah Zafar’s exiled end under British rule. The Government of India bears responsibility for failing to take steps to counter the Sangh’s harassment campaign and ensure Husain’s safe return to India.

Long live M F Husain!
